Abstract

The objective of this literature review was to compile information and gather results of estimates of genetic parameters for growth traits of Tabapuã cattle. The traits were: birth weight (PN), weaning weight (PD), yearling weight (PA) post-yearling weight (PS). Growth traits are of great importance for animal production and have aroused the interest of researchers in the area of animal genetic improvement. In the literature, different estimates of genetic parameters are found, where the great majority is of medium to high magnitude, showing great genetic variability, indicating that it is a good indicator of response to selection. Thus, it is relevant to know the genetic parameters for these traits in Tabapuã cattle, since this breed has been contributing to the increase in Brazilian beef cattle.
