Abstract

Business incubators facilitate the development and consolidation of the business. Adkins (2007) identifies the manager as a critical success factor for the incubator. And Stainsack (1998) points out that in the profile of the incubator manager, leadership posture is important in relation to the other required functions. The objective of this research is to analyze the organizational leadership in the context of a technology based incubator. It is a case study based on the qualitative research paradigm. The population includes the director of the incubator and those responsible for the five companies incubated in different stages of incubation, totaling six subjects. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview and content analysis was used for interpretation. Using the analysis, it was found that followers recognize the incubator manager as a leader for many aspects, such as the ability to handle many tasks, solve problems, develop companies, take responsibility, and face limiting circumstances of leadership. Through the analysis, the perceptions of the entrepreneurs describe the manager in the transformational leadership style.
