Abstract

Inquiry into Palestinian film education, or film education for Palestinians, are two quite different explorations, because of the conditions of dispossession and diaspora in which Palestinians live. Each of the lines of inquiry thus requires a definition of the geographic scope in question, and of what is meant by “Palestinian.” This chapter will focus on the Post-Oslo years, after the formation of the Palestinian National Authority in 1994 in certain areas of the West Bank and in Gaza. The chapter, more specifically, will focus on the experiences of the cinema NGO Shashat, which I played a central role in founding.
