Abstract

Recently, wireless communication systems are oriented to mobile communications, because of the increasing number of smart phones and tablets in today's market. The interest on Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) is also increasing due to their potential use in several fields such as collaborative computing and multimedia communications. Thus, there is an increasing need to minimize the overhead introduced by routing protocols in the network. In this paper, we analyze the performance of a MANET by simulations, investigating the effects of RREQ, RREP and RERR, considering Random Waypoint Mobility (RWM) model. We consider the case when source and destination nodes are static. We evaluate the performance by measuring the throughput and AODV control packets, for single-flow and multiple-flow communication. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.
