Abstract

The writers report that a study conducted at the Delsea Regional Middle School in Franklinville, New Jersey, revealed the immediate need to implement additional reading programs to improve the literacy skills of its students. Faced with such a dire situation, they describe how customizing the Accelerated Reader to suit their specific needs has encouraged and improved student reading, and provided several other beneficial outcomes.
