A vibração dos corpos: notas sobre uma teoria umbandista do intercâmbio mediúnico-energético

Abstract

Resumo Por meio de pesquisa etnográfica, este estudo registrou o conceito nativo do fenômeno mediúnico como transmissão de vibrações entre seres intangíveis e pessoas encarnadas. Primeiramente, apresento a noção quântica de vibração com que se explica o conceito dos sete corpos da pessoa. Em seguida, argumento que a técnica do processo mediúnico, através do qual as pessoas corporificam e materializam o sagrado, faz também com que elas próprias transformem-se em media. A relevância teórica da formulação para o estudo da materialidade nas religiões mediúnicas é evidenciada na mesma medida em que a pessoa-médium torna-se aparelho mediúnico e instrumento tecnológico. Por fim, conclui-se que essa teoria umbandista configura a concepção de “incorporação” de modo bastante diverso da ideia que o termo evoca.Abstract By means of ethnographic research, the present study registers the native concept of mediumistic phenomenon as transmission of vibrations between the intangible beings and the incarnated people. First, I present the quantic notion of vibration by which people explain the concept of the seven bodies of the person. After, I argue that the technique of mediumistic process, through which people embody and materialize the sacred, also make them transform themselves into media. The theoretical relevance of this formulation to the study of materiality in mediumistic religions is highlighted insofar as the medium-person becomes mediumistic device and technological instrument. Finally, the article concludes that the conception of “incorporation” inside this umbandista theory is distinctly different from the connotation of the word.
