Abstract

The demand of the forging industry for high quality parts combined with a high-level delivery performance is constantly growing. For increasing the level of delivery performance without an increase of the production costs, an integrated production management system covering the tasks of supply chain management (SCM) as well as production planning and control (PPC) being enhanced by logistic risk management and tool maintenance (TM) is set up within the research project SFB489 C4 "Planning and control of flexible supply chains for the production of precision forged components". This paper provides an overview of achieved results and presents the contents of current research about the co-ordination of PPC and TM. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.
