UNESCO challenges teachers to develop Education for Sustainable Development in which citizens adopt sustainable lifestyles in the economic, social and environmental dimensions. This paper presents an analysis of a set of teaching units for learning statistics, which seek to promote the development of sustainability skills and the objectives of sustainable development. Such didactic units were designed by future Primary Education teachers from Chile and Spain. The results show the need to generate statistical task models that promote Education for Sustainable Development, with a high cognitive demand and that are at the same time authentic. Likewise, it is observed the need to generate training actions for teachers, which allow reorienting the teaching of statistics through projects focused on realistic contexts, based on the Objectives of Sustainable Development, this with the purpose of accessing to train citizens of sustainability in the school context.
