The Myrtaceae is one of the most species-rich families in "restinga" vegetation. This study aimed to survey the subtribes Eugeniinae and Myrtinae (Myrtaceae) within the different vegetation types at Marambaia Restinga, in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil (43°32' - 44°01'W; 23°01' - 23°06'S). Seventeen taxa of Eugeniinae and four of Myrtinae were found, the subtribe with greatest number of species being the Eugeniinae. A species key is presented, as well as descriptions, illustrations, data on flowering and fruiting periods, and the geographic distribution of these species.
