There are multiple techniques for treating distal radius fractures. Closed reduction and percutaneous pinning remains a valid and well-accepted method of surgical treatment for displaced and unstable fractures. Pinning has been described for both intra-articular and extra-articular fractures, and it represents a relatively simple, minimally invasive, and cost-effective method of treatment. This technique may become more appealing as complications from volar plating are being reported in the literature.
