Abstract

The article explores the use of social media in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. In Great Britain, Bayer U.K. was censured by the Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority for mentioning the release of its product Savitex on the firm's Twitter account. Bill Cooney of Medpoint Digital Inc. says there is a need for the pharmaceutical industry to be careful with social media. It cites government regulation as the major obstacle to social media adoption in both industries.
