Abstract

This work presents some of the results obtained by the BIM and Heritage research group, made up of lecturers and members of the Institute of Heritage Restoration of the Universitat Politècnica of València and the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the Università degli Studi di Pavia. The group was set up for the purpose of studying the management of the documentation generated in 3D models, within the framework of the European guidelines for adapting BIM applied to cultural heritage in order to improve knowledge, revaluation and reuse. The aim is to define a protocol that will facilitate the organisation of activities, processes and relations among the stakeholders so as to establish a reference in the initial phase of gathering information and implementation of the building asset that will serve to structure the HBIM model over time. In addition, in accordance with Murphy et al. (2013), the use of 3D laser scanners is proposed as a means to collect data and record information, and this will serve as a starting point for the management of the information system and for the creation of a specific articulated data structure that will be incorporated into the process of developing the 3D model. This model will then be used to gain knowledge about heritage architecture and implement it in a collaborative and interdisciplinary BIM environment.
