Abstract

The term “map” in “concept map” should be taken almost literally. The concept maps map the concepts and relationships. On top of that they may be used to establish a map from the business level concepts and relationships to the IT systems, where the concepts and relationships are represented. (If they are supported by IT applications, that is): This detailed level of cross-referencing is, in fact, part of an enterprise level effort to manage the information assets of the enterprise.
