Abstract

PbSb 2 O 6 hP9 (162) P-31m – kda PbSb 2 O 6 (see remark), rosiaite Structural features: Close-packed O layers in h stacking; Sb occupies ⅔ and Pb ⅓ of the octahedral voids in alternating interlayers. Infinite slabs of edge-linked SbO 6 octahedra (6-rings) share vertices with single PbO 6 octahedra to form a 3D-framework. Ordering variant of ε-Fe 2 N (antitype). See Fig. VI.47. Fig. VI.47. PbSb 2 O 6 Arrangement of SbO 6 (light) and PbO 6 (dark) octahedra. Basso R. et al. (1996) [1] O 6 PbSb 2 a = 0.5295, c = 0.5372 nm, c/a = 1.015, V = 0.1304 nm 3 , Z = 1 site Wyck. sym. x y z occ. atomic environment O1 6k ..m 0.377 0 0.2965 non-colinear Sb 2 Sb2 2d 3.2 ⅓ ⅔ ½ octahedron O 6 Pb3 1a -3.m 0 0 0 octahedron O 6 Experimental: single crystal, diffractometer, X-rays, R = 0.033 Remarks: Natural specimen from the Cetine de Cotorniano mine (formerly Rosia mine), Siena, Italy. Com-position Pb 1.008 Sb 1.997 O 6 from electron microprobe analysis. The description in space group (149) P312 in [2] does not take into consideration all symmetry elements of the proposed structure (see [3]).
