Abstract

The development of the world economy, focused on the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of natural resources in terms of renewable resources, is now a priority, because it ensures the reproduction of society living conditions (provision of clean drinking water, clean air, restoration and preservation of biodiversity of flora and fauna, etc.) not only in present, but also in future. This direction of socio-economic development is an integral part of the concept of sustainable development of the countries of the world until 2030, adopted by the UN (Stiglitz et al. 2016; The UN report on human development 2011–2017; European Environment Agency 2007; World Bank 2012). The article provides a comparative analysis of approaches to assessing the ecological status of eco-socio-economic systems (ESES) and it proposes a methodological approach to the formation of an integrated statistical assessment of ESES by constructing criterion of “convolution” without the direct participation of experts in shaping the distribution of territories. Advantages of this approach and the possibility of its realization for the countries of the world and also the degree of comparability of the chosen indicators within this approach with the indicators of “Ecological Footprint” used by the international community, the International Human Development Index; The Happy Planet Index. In article the example of realization of methodological approach for regions of Russia is given and the assessment of prospects of its further development is carried out.
