Abstract

Considering that social media users are increasing with information that is very easily accessible. Through social media Facebook accessing information is now very easy to produce and share information that has been published that can affect emotions, feelings, thoughts or actions. knowledge about hoax news is caused by the source of information and the concepts and objectives in it. Where the spread of hoax news forms communication patterns in cyber society. This study is to find out and test whether there is an effect of hoax news on Facebook media on public opinion (Survey at RT.13 Sungai Bambu, North Jakarta). Data collection techniques by distributing questionnaires. Data analysis by testing the validity test, reliability test, normality test, product moment correlation coefficient test, coefficient of determination test, T test with data processing using SPSS 25.0 for windows in this study. By showing that the existence of hoax news on Facebook media has a high influence on public opinion which is influenced by 61.3%, while 38.7% of other variables as a result of this study.
