The bibliography is based on requests to about 300 South African scientists for lists of their published scientific research. After describing the 17 national parks, the bibliography of 5000 references is arranged in alphabetical order by author. This is followed by a key work index, broadly divided into subject areas such as: history, archaeology and palaeontology; conservation and management; physical and chemical features; techniques in botany; botanical descriptions; techniques in zoology; faunistic descriptions; taxonomy; and veterinary ecology. These are subdivided and, where appropriate, broken down systematically into plant and animal groups. There are also geographical and author indexes. -J.W.Cooper
