Abstract

A meta-search engine transmits the user's query simultaneously to several individual search engines and aggregate results into a single list. In this paper we conduct comparisons on several existing rank aggregation methods. Then based on those comparisons, an improved ranking aggregation method is proposed for meta-search engine. This method combines merits of the Borda's method and scaled footrule method. Extensive experiments show that this improved method outperforms the alternatives in most cases. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht(Outside the USA).
