Abstract

In the wake of the recent deaths of manual scavengers in Mumbai and Bengaluru, this article focuses on the life of conservancy workers and highlights the challenges they face through a few narratives of the workers themselves. It is based on the Baseline Survey of Conservancy Workers of MCGM, which was conducted in 2015, and was sponsored by the Tata Trusts.
