Abstract

Fluor and Uniper collaborated to jointly build a demonstration carbon dioxide recovery plant. The capture plant is based on Fluor's Econamine FG PlusSM technology and is located at Uniper's hard coal power plant in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The demonstration plant, which has a CO2 capture capacity of 70 t/d, utilizes a process configuration that incorporates several recent technology enhancements that can be directly applied to a full sized plant. In late 2015, the project successfully completed a 3 year test campaign. The test program generated useful data related to energy consumption, emissions profiles, and other information to facilitate the scale-up of the process to a full-sized coal based power plant.
