Abstract

This section examines the topic of whether librarians can lay claim to joining the ranks of professionals. It is stated that, in general, the training provided by library schools lacks the abstractness and rigor usually associated with legal or medical education. Librarians are greatly concerned with the concept of professionalism not only because they seek improved status, but also because of their strong commitment to a service ideal Book Published by Greenwood Press, Inc., United States, 1986
