Abstract

This article deals with a study realized amongst siblings whose gaps in age were different. It attempts to bring out the whole importance of this variable to the development of the siblings, considered in its « normality ». It notably points out how the intensity of the differences between full siblings of the same sex and with a small gap in age can be understood (indeed, sisters and brothers who are close in age and of the same sex, particularly amongst siblings of two, often appear to be very different and complementary). But this article also shows how the mark of the intrusion is different according to the age of the elder during this intrusion and how the impact of this variable (which is yet so little studied) seems to be significant in the individuals' development, on the narcissistic level as much as in the affects management.
