Abstract

This paper reviews artificial neural networks (ANN) and their use in various disciplines, especially medicine and biomedicine. As they are progressively evolving, fields of knowledge and modern methods such as ANN help to process information in order to make positive contribution to the development of human knowledge. The article illuminates this information processing in terms of artificial neurons and presents the learning algorithms for ANN. Finally, its current use is reviewed, especially its impact on drug design and development and application in biomedicine.
