Abstract

“Artist-in-residence programs reflect a lot the organization and the people and goals in the organization who develop the residency programs,” as the artist Sougwen Chung mentions in our interview about her experience with many different programs. She has been artist-in-residence for artscience projects in corporations, R&D facilities of corporations, scientific organizations, media art settings, and museums. Her experience not only reflects the diversity of settings of the artist-in-residence programs, but points to specific goals the organization has, the (personal and funding) capacities that can be used for the program, their goals and understanding of residency programs, and cultural differences."
