The arom. content of three Thymus species, T. persicus, T. daenensis, and T. kotschyanus, was assessed using gas chromatog. (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry anal. Aerial parts of T. persicus, T. daenensis, and T. kotschyanus yielded 0.2, 0.7 and 1.1% of essential oils, resp. The major components in the oil of T. persicus are thymol, p-cymene, γ-terpinene, carvacrol, linalool and borneol. T. daenensis contain 73.9% thymol, 6.7% carvacrol, 4.6% p-cymene, 1.5% β-bisabolene and 1.4% terpinen-4-ol. T. kotschyanus oil contain 69.8% carvacrol, 6.8% thymol, 3.9% γ-terpinene, 3.2% p-cymene, 3.2% borneol and 1.3 β-caryophyllene. [on SciFinder(R)]
