Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) continues to evolve in the management of thoracic malignancies. The relative simplicity of this treatment, in combination with reliable tumour ablation, has allowed for function sparing treatment to become a reality for a worldwide audience. Of particular importance is the ability of PDT to offer primary or palliative therapy to a cohort of patients who may otherwise be without good treatment options. Most important is that PDT fits well into the current multidisciplinary approach to cancer care as PDT compliments surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. This can only help our patients in their fight against the scourge known as cancer.
