Abstract

In this work, we prepared a material based on natural red mud subjected to the neutralization process with CO2 and enriched with Fe. The catalytic activity of the materials was evaluated based on the hydrogen peroxide decomposition test and the adsorption and oxidation reactions of the organic compound model methylene blue (MB). According to the results, it was observed that the material enriched with Fe was more active compared to the precursor material. The material showed potential to be used as a catalyst. Researches involving the application of waste processes contribute directly to minimizing the impacts caused by its disposal, and at the same time leads to the production of materials with added value.
