Abstract

When some of our colleagues learned that we were advocating the use of coal as our primary source of fuel for both electricity and hydrogen for motor vehicles, many were concerned about the danger of coal mining. But we discovered that coal mining safety has improved over the years, and that many other vocations are more dangerous. Furthermore, ending our dependence on imported oil should reap benefits in terms of reduced military actions to safeguard our supply of petroleum in the future and therefore the potential for reduced military injuries and deaths.
