Abstract

Supply chain management is the advanced management mode of the present time for it can make the goal of win-win situation achievable for enterprises on the junctions of supply chain. And to evaluate and select vendors has become the key for enterprises to improve their competitive advantage because vendors are the very source of the whole supply chain. The objectives of the paper are twofold: One is to establish the criteria for evaluation of vendors on the basis of theoretical research and empirical investigation. The other is to make comprehensive evaluation of vendors, employing the TOPSIS approach which is based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS).Through empirical research, the validity and practicability of the evaluation criteria and method are verified. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
