Abstract

Basic and applied research of our days result in the emergence and development of technologies like drones and their recent development require further changes and improvement in the skills, abilities, capabilities and know-how of their users. Technological development affects therefore also changes of those competencies of the military leader that are needed in 21st century operations. By describing some of the presently known top military technologies and their potential in combat use, the author outlines of the ongoing change in military arts and the nature of combat, in order to assess what competencies the new generations of military leaders will need to be able to remain personally responsible for the operations of their units.
