Abstract

The history of science shows significant changes in theories describing nature, and scientists themselves will admit that their discipline is dynamic. If things keep changing, what reason is there to believe what’s on the books at the moment? The scientific method must include some persistent mechanism that allows for change but in a way that, at least in general, increases the chances that the results are true.
