Abstract

The job of a machinist is to shape raw metal pieces into products using specialized machinery. Skin exposure of machinists is due to both mechanical and chemical irritants. Physical factors are metal chips and metal dust, friction, pressure, heat, and humidity. Chemical exposure is mainly to metalworking fluids, oils, and solvents.
