In this introduction to Aesthitics and the Revolutionary City: Real and Imagined Havana, Kent begins by exploring the idea of the imaginary city. He goes on to consider this in relation to Cuba by drawing on the work done by a number of key critics in the field of Urban and Cuban studies. Kent also gives a concise reading of the different imaginaries that have come to shape our understanding of Cuba in Western imagination. The introduction then provides a brief chapter summary that offers the reader an overview of the scope and contents of the book.
