Abstract

Four 6-aminopenicillanic acid moieties were grafted at either rim of calix[4]arene, giving 2 novel generations of penicillin, which were named calixpenam. Antibiotic tests showed that they have amplified activity with respect to the corresponding penams against 3 gram-positive nonpenicillinase- producing strains of Streptococcus. © Tubitak.
