Experimental archaeometallurgy can be an invaluable research tool. It can address questions and topics which would otherwise remain unanswered or unconsidered. It can be used to unite the scientific and social aspects of technology in identifying the choices that people made in relationship to the available environment, materials and technologies. This chapter reviews a wide range of experimental projects in Europe, Asia, Africa, Mesoamerica and South America. These encompass the metallurgical cycle from the mining, processing and smelting of ores to the casting, working and use of objects.
