Abstract

Worldwide genetically modified plants are grown on a largescale. The application of this technology is strictly regulated. Before any genetically modified organism (GMO) or product can be put on the market in the EU, it has to pass an approval system in which the safety for humans, animals and the environment is thoroughly assessed. Official Food control authorities are generally responsible for monitoring compliance with all required legal requirements. Therefore they require appropriate analytical methods. © 2010 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
