Abstract

This article uses the methodology developed by Borokhovich, Bricker and Simkins (1994) to determine the relative influence of seven prominent finance journals. The original analysis is expanded on a longitudinal basis for the years 1990 to 2006 inclusive. It is found that the relative influence rank produces some stable ordering over the study period with the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics occupying top spots. A change in the ordering of the relative influence rank indicates a shift in inter-journal communication trends. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
