Abstract

Microwave characteristics of traveling-wave photodetectors (TWPD) calculated with the use of the finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) method are presented. When a TWPD is long for high-power operation, microwave loss affects the bandwidth. This article presents a design guide for microwave characteristics for long TWPDs.
