Abstract

Students’ academic performance analysis and prediction activities enable the educators to prevent their students from failure by providing necessary support and counseling. With this necessity, an analysis-based Decision Support System (DSS) is proposed for the prediction of the students’ performance using ensemble methods. Nowadays ensemble methods becoming more popular in classification and prediction. In ensemble-based methods, a set of classifiers are used to construct a single composite classifier and the decisions of the individual classifiers are combined using some combination rules to classify the new instances. We proposed an ensemble-based Decision Support System (DSS) for the prediction of students’ performance particularly in the engineering discipline.
