Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been widely studied in many applications such as monitoring environment, embedded system and so on. The nodes of WSN are extremely power constrained, so energy-efficient data management and prolonging the networks lifetime are the major concerns to many scholars in this researching area. The algorithm is proposed using energy-efficient message collection and power management methods to prolong the lifetime of the sensor network. Simulation results show that it is to effectively balance the network energy consumption, improve the network life-cycle and ensure the communication quality. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
