Abstract

Lymphangiomas are congenital malformations of the lymphatic system; the main groups are the cystic hygroma, the cavernous lymphangioma, and the lymphangio-hemangioma. Radical surgery is the treatment of choice. The cavernous lymphangioma, often involving vital organs, is much more difficult to excise than the cystic hygroma. The surgeon should obtain the best functional and cosmetic result for this benign lesion.
