Abstract

Intrastromal corneal ring segments are gaining popularity with time as a surgical alternative for correcting corneal ectatic disorders. With an increase in frequency of using such a technique, it is important that ophthalmic surgeons become oriented with the complications of this surgical procedure as well as the best way to handle these complications. There are two commercially available types of Intrastromal corneal ring segments, Intacs® and KERARING®. Intraoperative, during surgical semiautomated manual tunnel creation or the femtosecond laser tunnel creation, and postoperative, clinical, as well as visual, complications are briefed in this chapter. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
