Trachoma is the greatest single cause of blindness. It affects 400 to 500 million people and causes ''economic blindness'' in 12 to 15 million people. It is a preventable, treatable and curable disease. Each ophthalmologist has a responsibility to help eliminate this disease through the proper utilization of personnel, money, equipment and medication.
