Abstract

Quartz glass is an exceptionally unique glass material with an extremely high silicon content, resistance to heat and chemicals, and light transparency. It is sometimes referred to as the King of Glass. This study examined the expert’s technique in applying the fire process on quartz glass. Using the expert’s know-how extracted by previous studies, we applied that to a skill instruction experiment on a non-expert to ascertain its educational effects. We have found that self-study by the non-expert with reviewing video footage of his own work combined with the know-how instruction of the expert resulted in the acquisition of a consistent educational effect, which will be presented here.
