Abstract

The arabidopsis SPY protein is a negative regulator of gibberellin signal transduction and based on protein sequence similarity it is hypothesized to be a O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT). Proteins from spy mutants were found to exhibit allele specific alterations in the pattern of GlcNAc modification. Insect cell expressed SPY is GlcNAc modified and preliminary activity assays indicated that this protein has OGT activity.
