Abstract

Industrial computer systems require not only current measurement data but also data from previous periods of time called "historical data". Apart from many corporate solutions there is a "standard" named OPC HDA (Openness, Productivity, Connectivity Historical Data Access). It describes a server as well as many options of accessing the data made accessible by the server. At the moment, OPC HDA Software Development Kit increases openness and versatility, unfortunately, at the expense of efficiency. This article shows the structure of the toolkit, efficiency tests and some possibilities of changes that would increase the effectiveness. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
