Abstract

The vertical velocity variance during convective activity was measured with an acoustic Doppler sounder. Here we show that this technique provides measurement of the heat flux profile in the well-mixed surface layer and gives a reference height h prime related to the inversion height Z//I during the mornings. It is shown that the structure function of temperature fluctuations C//T**2 can be obtained by these measurements using the A. M. Kaimal et al.
