Abstract

Donor and recipient size-matching in lung transplantation is one of the key factors in selecting the right organ for the right patient. This process has to take into account of the underlying recipient diagnosis as well as donor and recipient predicted total lung capacity. Predicted total lung capacity correlates with height and gender into a regression formula. Primary graft dysfunction and bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome may occur as complications of suboptimal lung size-matching.
