Abstract

Industrial and sustainable development of resource-exhausted cities are China's current economic and social harmonious development problems to be solved nowadays. In the course of China's industrialization and urbanization, there are many cities which are currently facing industries transformation, pay close attentions to the transformation of these cities and study the means, mechanisms, measures and methods,It is significant and critical for building a harmonious society with Chinese characteristics, In this paper, take the resource-exhausted city ,Baiyin Gansu province for example, analyzed the status of urban development and transformation of the main problems, through positioning the industrial transformation of the city , proposed restructuring of the relevant strategic vision, point out that baiyin city should try to integrate itself into the Lanzhou-baiyin urban economic circle as early as possible and make joint development with lanzhou; Actively cultivate alternative industries, implement industrial diversification; Optimize the investment environment of the region and absorb industries from other developed regions; Develop circular economy, improve use efficiency of resource and energy ; Make use of two resources and two markets and expand the space of using resources. These ideas are beneficial for other resource-based cities' sustainable development with a certain reference value. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
