Abstract

This chapter describes FeDiNAR (German acronym for Didactical Use of Errors with the Help of Augmented Reality)—an ongoing project, which focuses on errors as a highly beneficial learning opportunity. The aim of the project is the development and evaluation of an Augmented Reality (AR) based learning system with associated learning scenarios in order to make the most efficient use of a learner’s mistakes for individual competence acquisition. The chapter begins with an introduction of the education-based main idea in combination with a selection of didactical theories, schemes and intervention levels. Next, the authors define the error term for the project and illustrate the setup of the proposed learning system in general and the technologies involved. They then present their prototype, which includes a range of actuators and sensors, offering many possibilities to define scenarios in which the presented system will apply. The chapter continues with the underlying technological foundation based on digital twins enabling to use augmented reality for the presented didactical concept and concludes with the findings after the first project phase.
